    Hi,
How do we check oil level of SM74 Perfector Hydraulics pump (Herion). There is written 230 mm but how to check?

To acquire the measurement, you’ll need a vernier caliper. Shall we proceed with the procedure?

If you don't have a caliper just use a long thin screwdriver or the 6mm t bar the press has to adjust the rollers - mark 230mm from the end with a permanant marker.
On the end of the intensifier marked no.1 pic you will see a brass air filter - remove it and measure from the edge of the casing no.2 down to the piston face no.3 as per pic. should be 230mm.

Thanks for reply. The measurement is 235mm. Do i need to top up the oil. Which grade oil to use. Also i am curious to know if the hydraulics pressure are generated by pneumatic prrssure.
My problem is the hydraulics is not releasing the clamps so perfector is not working.

I also like to know the position of the oil level sensor

Yes the pneumatic air pressure pushes the piston and this generates hydraulic pressure to open the perfector clamps.
Your 235mm measurement is outside of tolerance 229-231mm. You actually need to release some oil as its reached its filling limit -
If it were say 210mm you would have to fill it. Someone must have over filled it for it to go so far back.
We use 150 grade gear oil - same as you put in the machine oil tank.
You generally shouldn't touch the oil sensor as its been put in its correct position from the factory unless you are replacing it
or someone has tampered with it. I can give you the steps on adjusting the sensor if you inbox me.
How do you know the clamps aren't releasing?

sorry for late reply. We removed the cover at drive side to check. The problem was oil leaking from the gasket of the clamp. replaced the gasket, filled the oil and it was working.
