Im looking to buy an used sm 74-4, so few things that i want to know,
Is it better to buy post 2000 machine?
As i heard post 2000 machines are easier to handle when there's some problem.
Also is straight machine better since i only do straight printing jobs.

I am expecting good suggestions thank you.

Any machine after 1996 will be a viable machine. It took two years for the factory to make needed improvements. After '99 (CP2000) machines, there were no changes that would really make a difference, other than more costly electronic elements to fail. As to perfecting, if you know you'll never have need for sheet reversion, don't buy into it, as it's a liability. But keep in mind, if your customers start asking for 2 over 2, or 1 over 1, there's no looking back.

Thank you for the suggestion, i have been looking machines from 1996 as well, so for cheap and best i think I'd choose between 1996 to 2000

if your looking at pre cp2000 machines, and the format size works for you, i would suggest considering a Speedmaster 72, all things like condition and impression count being equal. Ive worked on both and feel that the 72 is a more robust machine with a superior inker. The inker on a 72 is basically a 102 inker that's been narrowed. The larger circumference roller diameters are suitable to ink 28 inches from gripper to tail. This higher capacity inker really shines when laying down heavier coverage. Not as quick to respond with light coverage forms though, because of the inkers storage capacity.
