the company i wrok for for over 38 years,is in dire need of employee sugguestins, hoping we can hepl them stay in business( under kizain mode).... my question is we have had to remove our auto blanket washers off the press, due the time it takes to clean them and maintain them ... 40inch 700,now we wash by hand but we can only have 1 unit open at a time.. is there a program out there for a man roland service tech to come in and install program in computer allowing us to do this task( 6 units blanket guards all open press on crawl).. we have 2 300 rolands that allow us, 4 40 inch rz that will crawl with guards up.... if possable we have 3 men on press, wash 2 blankes each done 1/2 the time tks for replys

Who removed the auto blanket system? Were the electrical sensors removed as well? There is no quick fix in the program that would lead to what you expect the press to do. There can be however a more practical hardware solution, but safety issues may need to be addressed because of having several people washing up by hand at the same time. You are adopting the Kaizan method to make improvements. What are you trying to achieve? Lower make ready time? Reduce press operating cost? The auto blanket wash is an option that was designed to provide those improvements. Not sure if removing it is the right way to go. What year is your R700?

the auto blanket wash done a fine job, but managment thought it best to remove them from the press due to the fact that they must be cleaned, and maintained,, they dripped on the sheets after blanket wash... not this pressmans wish, but command from supervisor..so as i said we have 2 300 7/c that will let the press crawl with all blanket guards up,and we hand wash them also,, was just looking to see if there is a program that will allow the same as the 300 has.. man roland 700 6/c tower coater 1996.. company is looking to save any seconds, minutes in any way to up profits and cut costs.. hard company to please but will continue to try..

I have a R700 around '95-'96, I have found that when i removed one of the Gurads to Repair something, when i remounted, the Console wouldnt know when that guard were open, Not sure if it will work for you.

@rolandman: The reason is because the limit switch that senses a guard open is not activated when you remove it. I think it would be a very bad idea to remove the guards!

It can be done. There are a couple of options depending on the series and year of the press. Please contact us if you are interested.

use a small magnet on the sensors when the guards are open. If you have an extra washer from the coater it is best to keep one clean as a spare you can clean them up on long runs. Use duct tape to seal the pan back up and make sure it is not set to tight to the blanket. If you get into a routine that will save the funnels and drain tubes from clogging up. Once i got into a good routine i solved all of my flipping and did the maint on the run. The magnet will work but i dont like washing blankets by hand so i make my feeder clean up a washer every so often on long runs and the first signs of 1 flipping at all, i snatch it out and process repeats

I am running a 700-8c pl and also have blanket washers which were removed by mgt and maint dept refuses to fix. How do you use the magnets, and where is the sensor located? Thanx!

it is very simple to leave the guards open, but its very dangerous because the risk of an accident, if you put a jumper in the proper place at all units you can run the machine even a full speed, the risk is high some foreing objets can fal inside the drum and cause a big damage and when you clean the blankets with this guards jumped the speed jogging forward or backward is very fast and you can have a very serious injure... I do not recomend to do it!!!
