OKI IMPRINT ES3640a3 plate making

Hello everyone.
I have the OKI IMPRINT ES3640a3
I am using it for only polyaster plates that i buy from xante.
i am printing the plate from illustrator from Post-Script options and in separation mode.
after i print the plate and i look with lupa i dont see any dots.
after the plate goes to the offset the image comes out with a lot of dots and it looks bad.
do you have any idea why this is happening?

 

Yeah, been there, done that. these printers are not the best tool to make plates. Try to send the job as B/W only, this way printer will kick up CMY Drums imaging only with K unit and perhaps this will be less evident. Best suited printers to make poly plates are Xante Platemaker 4 - was my best experience or HP LaserJet 5100 - it must be in top notch condition, superclean, genuine cartridge and fuser are must.
Most of laser printers actually do this kind of thing but we do not see it with naked eye, I can't explain why but the fact remains. I used to own Copier/Printer sales service business and Printing Shop and experimented plenty. All came back to buying Xante Platemeker4 and used that for years without much issues.

Sir, I stand by the rest of my post. You use this printer for the purpose it was not designed/meant to be used. The fact that you don't see any issues trough the magnifying glass makes this a good printer with good print quality. As I said - I did try the same thing with same printer while back and received the same result. There is, likely, nothing to fix, so even if someone explains the situation from scientific point of view, I'd highly out that remedy exists. Perhaps try media setting "transperency and/or film" see if it makes any difference - I dont remember how far I took my experiments with it. Again - you can get xante platemaker 4 relatively cheap on Ebay and as far as my years in printing - best results.
