I'll do some more research on it - my scale of work will be very short runs and if it can handle that and they except a very low bid - I think I might go for it.

Like I said- who ever sells it will be happy to offload it. They probably had it for sale over the year :)
I went there to check because you asked and I remember seeing one looooooong time ago.

I just need this printer up and running - what do you think the prospects of it running again are?

I keep meaning to ask you - how can I get a hold of the RIP and Harlequin software?

Hi Jeff. Unfortunately I can't help you with RIP/Harlequin software. I used to run these printers straight up VIA network Driver. Most of them have Fiery RIP built in.
So we have 2 choices. Choice #1) Fix your printer. Choice #2) buy one off Ebay, did they reply to you with Configuration page and other info?
Things to know and consider: here the supplies list for this printer, I will state prices that I can offer just for reference.
4 Toners CMY $120ea CMY, 105 for K, yield 16.k LTR pages at 5% coverage, as we both know, nothing in commercial printing is 5% coverage except may be letterheads so realistically 8-9K pages
4 Drums CMY $165ea, K is $125, yield 35K pages, realistically at about 30K, print quality will start to deteriorate, depends on what you printing, if uncoated stock, they will pick up more paper dust and die out a little sooner, so lets say you can get 30,000 LTR sheets out of a drum.
Fuser $200, will last 100,000 pages, realistically 80K
Belt $225, will last 100,000 pages, they usually last 100k as all the belt does is carry the media trough, on some printers image is being build on the belt and transferred VIA secondary transfer roller.
These printers are kind of environment sensitive, some print quality issue may develop in winter time if air is too dry. 50-60% air humidity is advised, some users run humidifier if need be.
Ok, lets play out option 1 - I fix your printer, with job this big I would like to take and service it where I am, not at your place, we are about 150 miles away so perhaps could meet half way so each one of us does 1hr+something driving. I would guesstimate this would carry a pricetag of $600 plus should we need some additional things like rollers, etc, I'd inform you in advance, obviously full cleaning is included, job well done guaranteed. What we do not know at this point, is the condition of the supplies you have in there now, so it is sort of a gamble for you as should it need few drums, fuser, belt, etc, you can easily sink another grand in to it, again, it could be zero but could be substantial amount plus what does not work for us is that once installed and used, drums have a "shelf life" i.e. - will fail regardless if used or not within a year or so. You said printer was in storage, how long before they decided to say good bye, do you know?
Option 2. You get that Ebay printer, if it is running device and assuming we know condition of the supplies and have few freebies on the side you can be more or less certain what to expect, so this is more expensive but much safer route. I sell this type of printers for $1600-2000 depends on print count, condition and so on, so assuming the printer is descent and does not have gazillion prints on it, price is fair and freebies add up to that statement. If this is what you'll decide to do, I can probably offer you something for the broken printer you have.

Hi Roman - thanks for all the information. I'm not going to sink any more money into this printer that I have. I am going to purchase the printer that I found on eBay - we came to an agreement last night. It comes with the following:

There are two BLK drums and two BLK toners in their boxes. The others were pretty new too. There is a fairly new belt also.

    In machine toner
    Back 60%
    Y100%
    C100%
    M100%

    Drums in printer
    B34%
    Cy53%
    M53%
    Y53%

    Belt 88%

So this looks like a pretty good deal after all.

What would you offer for this printer that I have?

I can't thank you enough for the insight on this printer. Also for the pricing on the consumables. Do you sell the waste bottle as well? If you would like to take some of this conversation offline - you can email me at jeff@aweddingbyjeff.com

    Thanks - Jeff
