For over 25 years, our company has repaired the CRT monitors used in many models of Polar Cutters.
We are happy to share adjustment and/or repair info on these units.
    Thanks. Jim Z

    Dear Jim,

Do you have schematic diagrams for the monitors?

    Thank you,

We had schematics for the older monitors that used a large transformer in the integrated power supply, but none for the newer units using a separate power supply. Over the years we developed our own proprietary service info. What info are you seeking?

    Dear Jim,

While the strict monopolistic politic by Polar Mohr Maschinenvertriebsgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG as to free usage and service of their product by my opinion, as well as by other monopolists and their subcontractors and representatives (sub-monopolists), closing even industry standard parts specifications, interfaces,.. while closing any technical information, as user and service manuals,.. disclosing or sharing any technical information as to the Polar Mohr machines would be very appreciated by many users and service providers.

    I am looking for:
    1. Schematics and technical specifications for any monitors for Polar Mohr machines.
    2. Initial video signals specifications for Polar Mohr machines with color monitors.
    3. Schematics and technical specifications for CRT monitors for the Wohlenberg MCS-2/3 TV machines.

    Thank you,
    Oleg T.

    Oleg-
Welcome to the world of monitor repair!
My shop repaired monitors starting in the 90's, and while there were a few manufacturers willing to share technical data, most of them did not share.
So, we had to develop troubleshooting skills and create our own documentation to be successful.

Manufacturers more than ever appear to no longer support keeping their legacy products viable.
Instead they just keep churning out new product...forcing end users to pay high prices for those new products, many built with a fraction of longevity of the older units.

We still repair the monochrome CRT monitors (Heidelberg p/n 022-331) in the US.
Not sure where you are located, but if interested we may be able to combine efforts to serve your customers more efficiently.
Email me direct to discuss: info@jimzservices.com
    Regards....Jim

    Dear Jim,

Thanks, I repaired analogue audio & video consumer units, not limited just with TV's, since 80's with, and without schematics. As far as I remember, near any serious manufacturer supplied its audio and CRT products at least with schematic, while VHS systems were more closed. A screw places, and not only, were marked by manufacturers, in order to simplify the life of repair personnel. And now, any product is made irreparable and unserviceable intentionally, by the stupid modern engineering ("designing"), supported by the criminal marketing manners and "politics" by the most of manufacturers, including vehicles, industrial machinery,.. medicines, and all.

Our Lab is located in Israel, we also still repair and sell CRT monitors. I would not like to discuss the subject directly, but to fill the empty "internet" and this forum with an useful content, and not only with advertisement links.

Can you share any schematic and/or repair info for the Polar Mohr monitors and cards here?

    Thank you,
    Oleg T.

Just a quick note: While I definitely commend the intent of helping people to be able to troubleshoot and maintain their own machines, and while I wish that every piece of equipment was provided by the manufacturer with complete information, please be careful not to get the forum into trouble. It's important not to request, provide, or share here any schematic or service documentation which is restricted or would violate copyright. The forum is a good resource for asking about what machine might be ideal for a task, how to approach a particular printing or finishing job, or advice on how to attempt to troubleshoot a problem, where to source support or equipment, and this kind of discussion, or to ask about the procedure for obtaining manuals, software, or tools legally and through proper channels. But we have to be careful not to violate anyone's rights, so requesting or providing any materials which would infringe on someone's copyright is off limits.
Thanks very much you for your understanding.

    Dear Admin,

None is worry for the violated rights of end users and independent service providers, just for "copyrights" of the monopolists, which are closing publicly open standards, such as "composite video" and RGB standards, .. I will never understand closing user and service manuals for the users, basically the manuals are not intellectual property, especially after any machine has been already sold to a user.

Very important while servicing, troubleshooting, discussing,.. any equipment, that is having an original technical documentation and specs. Otherwise any topic/forum will remain useless, every time ending with a personal contact ("I will help you directly for a fee or free"), or by the contact of a corresponding monopolist.

Who will decide regarding "copyright" validity of the discontinued monitors open interfaces, you, me, user, monopolist, or an international court?

    Dear Jim,

If you actually wanted to share any technical information, but afraid of any monopolist I will assist you, e-mail it me: sapiro.alex@gmail.com. I will try to worry about rights violation of all, end users, service providers and monopolists.

    Thank you,
    Oleg T.

    Definitely understand your concern.

However, wanted to make it clear that the forum shouldn't be used in any way that would infringe or attempt to circumvent someone's copyright.

The forum really exists to help printers with questions that fellow members can help answer with their own thoughts and words.

    For example:
I'm looking at this machine, does anyone have experience with how it would handle this type of job?
Have others run this machine side by side with this other machine?
Is there a machine to consider that I haven't even looked at?
How has your maintenance of this machine gone over time?
Any tips for running this particular stock?
Where can you get this stock in this area?
As of this software update, my machine has this issue? Have others found a different way to do this?
Where is this option on this machine?
Was a part ever made to do this task?
Is there a difference between this version and this other version?
Can this issue be troubleshooted to see if I need to hire a tech or if it's a simple to replace part?
    and so on.

While I agree with you that it would be ideal if everyone who purchased a machine was provided by the manufacturer with full and comprehensive documentation, in cases where a manufacturer restricts certain service documents and has a legal copyright on them, the forum cannot step on their toes. So the forum exists to provide help where members can provide help to others where it does not infringe on someone else's rights.

    Dear Admin,

I do not agree with you, as well as you do not understand fully, that any monopolist must (and not should) provide standard technical information, which must be enough not only for usage but also for independent servicing of a machine. Polar Mohr is closing the standard video interfaces allowing connecting a proper monitor to the machines. Such information should be open for user, as well as a fuel type of his car. That is the same as if you have purchased a car with a "copyrighted" unique secret fuel station, with an obligation to refuel your car only there. But, refueling a car on every station is not ideal dream, that is the normal obligation for the automotive monsters.

Your examples can be useful for a few percents of cases, but mostly such restricted "discussions" are about nothing, but they may be useful for the manufacturers in any way, go review over the technical topics of the forum, they are near empty of the initial subjects and problems actually, and always concluded by Mr. CHOCK and his e-mail).

I close this topic for me, if no concrete technical information is going to be appeared in this topic. Till now, it is only about Mr. Jim and me, who have "some" experience in "something", and about you, who worry so much on monopolists' extra profits of "nothing".

    Thank you,
    Oleg T.

It is certainly very much appreciated when manufacturers do provide information that helps a user operate and maintain their equipment.

The more you can encourage manufacturers to provide good documentation, the better. When I buy equipment, I certainly consider whether I'll be able to maintain the equipment to operate with the quality I need and for how long.

It is also very much appreciated when members with knowledge and experience can help others by sharing their expertise to help with common issues or simple problems where some tips and guidance can be given that does not infringe on a manufacturer's document copyright.

Thank you to all who are willing to share your own knowledge and experience and help.

    It is appreciated.
