Not unusual at all, to have ink building up on the blanket outside of the sheet perimeter after 10 to 15000 impressions. As long as it doesn't show on the sheet you will be ok. I would advise that you don't let it build up too much, and wash your blankets and impression cylinder before it gets really bad. With a big buildup of ink on the blanket around the sheet edges, all it will take is for 1 sheet to not side guide correctly and you have the potential for that misregistered sheet to stick to the blanket. This has the ability to ruin your blanket.

You mentioned 10 to 15000 impressions in your original post. Can you upload a picture of the problem blanket after 500 impressions? How many printing units on your press? Does it happen on all units if there are more than one? Is this a problem that has been ongoing, or did it just begin? If it just began what have you changed in the production process? New plates? New rollers? Different ink? You see where im going with this?

Pretty normal for a GTO with conventional dampeners. They pick up ink on long runs.
If you're running conventional plates they might be a bit underdeveloped? Maybe put a bit of fresh stuff in the processor.

Positive plates might need a couple more seconds exposure?

Negative film might be a bit light?

For the sort of work that tends to be done on a GTO with moleton dampeners, probably not worth worrying about too much. Just wash the blankets when the piles get changed. That's what I do.
