Is an X-Rite DTP32 Densitometer worth having for xerox docucolor 242?

I did not buy a densitometer with my new xerox docucolor 242 bustled fiery X3eTY RIP, but it would seem (unless I misunderstand and the options are somehow locked) that command workstation allows me to calibrate it with either the default colorcal off the glass or with an X-Rite DTP32 or DTP41 densitometer connected to the workstation on which command workstation is installed. I can get a used DTP32 really cheaply as an older slower model.

Is this old model DTP32 densitometer still worth having?

Has anyone "upgraded" from down and dirty colorcal calibration to using a DTP32 densitometer on a xerox docucolor 242/252/260/240/260 printer? How has it improved your color accuracy? Or is the scanner after calibration with the kodak gray/color bars and color cal just as sufficient as the old DTP32?

I'm in the same predicament. I just talked with my color specialist and she said it is better than nothing...
