What Digital Label Printer Should I Buy?

Hello All,

First time post here, forgive me if I chose the wrong forum. We do roughly 40k/year in labels and currently outsource everything, I'd like to move this work in-house but don't have a clue what to buy. Does anyone else out there own a digital label printer?

I'm looking for one that has the following:

• Speed
• Quality - Full Color, High Res
• In-Line Finishing (preferably laser over die, but feel free to educate me on why that's a good or bad choice) - Coating/laminating is a plus
• Value - Both long and short-term
• Anything else? I literally know nothing about label printing

I dont need anything end-game like a $350,000 machine, I'm looking for a little above entry level at maybe $50k, currently I dont even know a place that sells them.

So far I haven't gotten any relevant responses to this thread, I thought I'd give it a bump. I'm still in the market for a label printer, I'm looking for something high end. I guess I should also specify I am not looking for a copier, I'm looking for a roll label printer. I guess a mini digital web for labels?

 

Long shot. did you ever find the label press you were looking for?

 

Someone else interested here to know if you ever got a good label printer

 

There are few companies that offer modified OKI Printers, I think I've seen one that look like a OKI C711 and runs up to 9" wide roll and there is one that looks like OKI ProColor 900 and runs up to 12" wide roll... Did you look in to those? There is LEXmark based printer modified to run from the roll as well
