I have an Acora 5 binder feeding the popular Merit S 3 knife trimmer. I am experiencing huge problems with the waste not getting removed, getting stuck to the knifes and not going down the extraction system. The waste then ends up going along to the stacker and jamming everything up and bringing production to a stand still. We have directional blowers in the Merit unit but these seem to make little if any difference at all. The time the product comes from the binder to the three knife on the conveyor is approx 90 seconds. At the moment I am resulting in binding all the products stacking them down and then cutting as another process.

    Anyone, any ideas?

    Hi Cambrian,

I know that this comes late, but maybe it will help others.
First thing I did, I installed constant blow air blowing down on paper trimmings and then I sealed every gap on the waste removal duct. My duct goes up on the roof and then another 100 feet down in baler room.
Another thing, I got a company coming out and speed up the waste removal motor about 5X.

    Hi Guys

I know its late but also the Merit should come with a silicone unit which sprays a bit of silicone on your knives every now and the so the glue does not stick to the knives when cutting also make your glue cut off less on the binder

also check the trimmer air blow timing degrees as some operators change the factory settings and this can cause a blow back type of thing, they need to come on at the correct degree and blow for a certain time then off again for the next cycle.
