For most 4-color machines I had found the best color image results to run black, cyan, magenta and yellow. I have tried other combinations, however the best comes from this sequence.

I always ran K Y first then C M on a 2 col press, more control over the color that way and it always matched the matchprint.

I had also tried K, C, M & Y or K, Y, C & M. Important thing that Black is the only color, which makes a good combination with the other colors.

For 2 color machine: there are many color like white with black, red with white, blue with black.
    For 4 color machine: black+ white +green+ light+ blue

What do you base on to decide the color sequence?

Depends on your inks and their respective tackiness, also if you have solids with cyan+magenta or the other way around you can change the order to get better results, but as far as i have read until now, i think the best in 4 cols is KCMY sequence. You get better traps at colors RGB

I read many documents: When they print more than 2 colors with 'wet-on-wet' offset printing, the following color's thickness is thinner than the previous color's thickness. Why? And if I printed 'wet-on-wet', would 2 adjacent colors have been mixed together?

  10. Important thing that Black is the only color, which makes a good combination with the other colors.

When you say "thinner" are you referring to less tacky? If so then that is in theory true. When printing multiple colors, anywhere that you have 2 or more colors overprinting each other the tackiness of the ink should diminish from unit to unit. If you were to assign a tack number of say 18 to the black then all following colors should have tack numbers descending. For example... when printing k,c,m,y your tacks numbers should start at 18 and finish up with the last down yellow at 15. This would be preferred in order to optimize trapping. Ill use the old peanut butter and jelly analogy here because it defines it in simplest terms. Its very easy to spread a big blob of jelly on top of the peanut butter that's already been spread on the bread. But if you were to spread the jelly on the bread first think of what would happen if you were to try spreading the peanut butter on top of the jelly!!! The same applies with ink trapping.

Yellow is the only color which generates brightness and shine in printing, so it should be kept always last stage to avoid wiping of ink in blankets and loosing shine and brightness according to me KCMY always gives the perfect results, also have tried CMYK but KCMY give much more brighter output
