when changing over to perfect, the bell rings when it is supposed to. But when I go to set the sheet size it starts ringing again and won't stop. Non cptronics ,manual change over. Segment gear and storage drum properly zeroed.

There's a toothed belt under the lower operator side cover, you may want to check it for proper tension. There's an adjustable tensioning wheel exerting pressure on the belt. Due to belt wear, you may have to tighten it up a bit. Also, the microswitch which rides on the face of the timing mechanism (which the toothed belt runs on) may have failed.

I know that belt is a little loose , I'll try tightening it . Is there a procedure for adjusting that microswitch?

See if tightening the belt restores the synchronization. If not, ohm out the switch contacts after cleaning it with contact cleaner. It may be oil saturated. Suggest you not f**k with the switch positioning, that's not likely to result in any benefit. It'll be the toothed belt sprocket that may need adjustment, not the switch.
