    Just out of curiosity-
Has anyone tried replacing the pneumatic cylinders of any press with linear electric actuators?
Basically these are cylinders actuated by electric motors instead of air.

Not that I'd ever heard of in my area. Interesting concept, but given the harsh environments, would they even be feasible? The oil, solvents and other contaminants are hard enough on pneumatic components

Very True. But from what I read, the electric ones are also made to work for long hours under harsh conditions.
Moreover they are dimensionally identical as they are made to replace pneumatics.

The only hurdle I could think of was of pressure adjustment. A pneumatic cylinder is ok even if it's stopped half way from being completely actuated.
An electric cylinder might not be ok with that.

But I'll be curious to hear opinions from others.

    Dear Sir:
    Hi hope you are well.
    All the opinion are good.
However from the Technical Point: 1) Electrical Actuators has advantage vs Linear Actuator, Has a complete 360 rotation,vs Linear Actuator only aprox 300 degrees. By that reasons 2) electrical actuators are a) Little and very Strong b) High performance c)Degrees adjustables, d) Easy installation e) Good light metal Strong.
Example: Strong utilization in conveyor system ,etc.
    In short.

    Hi chock,
    Many thanks for your inputs.
Have you ever seen them perform in a press?

    yes sir.
in Automatic conveyor belt system. 2) newspaper system 3) food system ,etc.
    Very impressive.

Electric actuators are for very specific applications where the end of stroke to switch off is well defined. They have very slow response compared to pneumatic cylinders. In addition to the higher cost.
