I have read several posts about CTP systems and found them very informative. I was wondering if anyone would have a suggestion for our shop. We have a Bible printing ministry with a Hantscho web press that uses a plate size of 38.5"x27.5" and a Ryobi 3304. Our runs on the web press are usually at least 25,000, and the sheet fed Ryobi we have only had a short time, but most runs will be around 6,000. We currently have an Agfa Avantra 30 for making film. It does an excellent job, the problem is the chemistry. We do not make a lot of film very often, so when we do use it, the chemistry is usually used only once. I do not want the same problem with a CTP that uses chemistry that will be used once and then thrown away.
I understand that my Agfa Avantra can make polyester plates for the Ryobi, but have never tried it. I understand that different chemistry is used for plates than for film. Is it also true that the plate chemistry will break down over time?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Hi sir:
    Hope you are well.
You can do it by 2 ways for Polyester( Surface 100% receptive to water-Hydrofile):
    1) Conventional Laser Printing with high Resolution like HP. No chemical need.
    2) In the same way use Agfa Avantra, only follow the recommendation, No chemical need, since they gravure with Laser.

Are you saying that if I use the Avantra all I have to do is run the material through the image setter and not the processor?
Even if that is right, we still have a need for metal plates for the web press. I don't think the head and tail of a polyester plate can be bent in such a way that the plate clamps on the web press will hold them.
Also, is it possible to run quality 4 color polyester plates on laser printers. We have a Konica Minolta C1070 that we use for a lot of short run work.
    Thanks for your input.

In other words, you do not need any chemical for you Polyester plate CTP, they are printed by Laser Only
after you put in the press and use only Good Water, and Ready.
However you must have very clean the Avantra machine, such as Roller by contamination before of chemical, etc.
The press the water deposit must be clean too, for to avoid contamination with chemical used before, that the secrets.
Yes you can run High acceptable quality color in polyester plates on laser printer. Try it, is very economical.
Attached is there one Schema: 1) PC with Laser printer 2) Plate ready 3) Directly to Press-Print=Final.
