Canon not printing correctly with MP 610

Hey guys!

I got the above printer and I was trying to print something recently but it didn't come out properly. I attached the file and I am not sure if it is the nozzle problem but I did clean it and it still did not work.

 

It certainly appears that way.
What file type are you printing? and excell file? if so, convert it to a PDF first, it could be your print settings adding additional columns or page breaks.

Try printing something else. Maybe create a file with alternating stripes of 100% magenta, 100% Cyan, 100% Black etc.
See if just the black is dropping out.

Ink jet printers are notorious for have nozzle/print head issues. Especially if you dont use the printer daily.
Letting your printer sit for days without use will often result in this issue.

If you have the extra funds to swing a laser printer, you'll never run into issues such as this.

 

I have been printing files from pdf and words but it still come out this way. I thought my MP610 Canon is a laser printer? are laser printers more advanced?

 

I dont think it's a matter of advancement, just different technology all around.
You have an inkjet printer, liquid ink flows from a cartridge to a printhead\nozzle. When not frequently used the liquid ink leftover in the pathway to the printhead will dry out.
More often than not the printhead must be replaced entirely (at a cost that will rival the cost of the printer itself)

Laser printers use dry ink, or toner. A wire assembly will apply an electrical charge to a drum, then a laser will discharge the area of the drum in the shape of your image.
your could keep a laser printer dormant almost indefinitely, then fire it up a year later and the machine prints fine.

The cost of the printer itself and toner cartridges will be significantly more than inkjet , but the reliability will trump inkjet in every way. here's lower priced model from Canon:
