Printer for Synthetic stocks

We are looking into the possibility of purchasing a new printer and want to know what production printers work best with the synthetic stocks. We currently have a Canon C7000 but it is getting too old and needs to be replaced. We need at least a 13x19 sheet size printer, but want to make sure the synthetic stocks print without any issues. It would be a huge help in deciding which printer to purchase.

We run around 15,000-20,000 per month, but hope to increase that number.

We also want the booklet maker attachment for inline folding/stitching.

You have one of the older C7000's with the dual fuser units? If you're running synthetic on that you should have any problems with the new Canon C710's .
Ricoh has a new machine with a 5th color station option that's geared for synthetic and clear substrates.

The new Xerox V80-V180 also claim to run synthetic very well.

What material are you running? BOPP? Teslin? PVC?

I remember running vinyl labels on the Canon ImagePRESS C7000 - It was a nightmare for me. I had to set the GSM low enough to avoid the double fuse, but then the paper path became terribly un-linear - then the transfer voltage needed to be increased to get decent color.

I actually have the new canon C750 coming in a few weeks - though i'm out of the synthetics business, I could at least tell you how the machine behaves.

All these new digital presses are now offering 26inch "banner" printing (its what they're calling it) and guaranteed run capability on synthetics..

 

We are also looking for that capability (banner printing).

If you happen to run any synthetic once you get it, please let me know your results.

That terminology bothers me. I just cant consider a 13x26" sheet to be a "banner"
My idea was to run long saddlestich books with it. I get a lot of people asking for books bound on the short edge. and my post press finishing equipment is limited here.

 

We have a Cannon 8000 and it only runs up to 10 mil vinyl. 14 mil just wont feed....ever. The 10000 engine will handle the 14 mil.
