May be your compressor needs service, do you release the water from compressed air tank?

Losing pressure, Adrian? What issues lead you to making that assumption? Running too often? Sluggish or slow reacting pneumatics at the damps?

Is there anyway that we can bypass the electricals on this press an run a compressor direct to the press as initially the motor on the compressor went bad so we connected a compressor line to the Air drum so that it pass through and the electrical on the press would sence the air pressure and the red light would go out thus we would be able to turn on the press, please advise.

    Hi sir
Good day , hope you are well.
    1) I do not know what type of compressor do you have, maybe you
can send me a Pic to my email.

    2) You can by pass the electrical circuit and run other compress, but you must be carefully for Protection to the machine
    and avoid any Electrical Shock!!
Let me know what do you want to do, and I can guide You Safely.

Very common solution to a very common problem. Just feed the tank with at least 100 psi, be sure your regulator is set at @7 bar, and disconnect the 3 phase wires feeding the compressor in the cabinet.

Image shows what we have now as we had taken the motor off some time ago and the outside compressor is attached by the hose marked by RED arrow, we can hear some air leakage from electrical switch marked by Yellow arrow.

Get it serviced to check for broken seals/walves or any other wearable parts.

Do you want to remove your air drum and continue running the press bypassing the electrical switches (yellow arrow) ?

You could try disassembling the pressure switch and check for fouling of the seal, but I can tell you I've never had much luck repairing the assembly. In a couple of cases over the years, I've completely removed the whole compressor and installed a low limit switch direct to the air line feeding the press from the house compressor. The high limit is not necessary as it is only used to tell the old compressor it has reached its max pressure. The low limit is necessary, as Chock mentioned, to protect the press.

Your advice sound great, I am not familiar with a low limit switch that you installed , can you advise on how to do this, and do you have photos to assist?

Bridge the two blue wires, preferably in the cabinet. The wire numbers are etched near the ends at the switch, find those same numbers in the cabinet and install a jumper.

You need to do as follows:
    1) Install one low air pressure and one high air pressure limit switch into the air supply hose. As junker mentioned, high pressure switch is optional as pressure will be regulated by compressor itself.

    2) Use the wiring of the limit switches marked by yellow Arrow in ths new limit switches you will install the air supply hose.

    3) Alternatively, you can by-pass the safety mechanism of the press to protect itself in case of low/high pressure by joining the blue wires of the limit switch together.

Do you have an electrical supply dealer near you? If so, request a pressure switch adjustable to 6-7 bar, normally open contacts which close at a minimum of 6 bar and hook up the two blue wires to it. The switch just requires a branch line coming from any point of the air line feeding the press. Sorry, I have no pics.

As Junker said, preferably install a jumper in cabinet.

With all this info being thrown at Lynden, hope we're not confusing him, Abhi! :)

I'm sure, the way forward as per the press owner will be installing a jumper :p
