    Hi Guys,

We believe a few of our ink keys are not opening enough.

We are running a job with heavy black coverage and zone 4 seems to be struggling abit more that the others. We checked our roller pressure stripes and they are fine and it seems to be in one zone.

I believe the zone is opening and closing just maybe not enough?

    Any tips would be appreciated.

Apply yellow ink in the related station and close all the inkkeys. Rotate fountain roller and check if the inkfilm is uniform over the complete width of the roller. If not, adjust the corresponding inkkey.

On the Classic you have protective foils which cover the ink keys to prevent ink and dirt from get in them. Many people do not replace these when they are worn or cracked and it causes significant issues with the keys. I have seen people use 2" packing tape to cover the keys instead of buying the correct protective foils.

It is also possible the potentiometer on the ink key is failing as a result the press is not able to determine exactly where the ink key is. I have seen this in many instances after years of use. Very rarely have I seen the motors themselves fail, especially if the protective foils have been replaced on a regular basis.

I would check with our parts department for the foils if you are looking for factory replacements.

The tool to replace the metal foil is only used on the Plus and Pro machines. The Classic did not use one.
