iGen5150 - clear toner quality and registration

Our recent installation of an iGen5150 (matte) with clear toner capabilities is showing less than dramatic results and the registration is well off and appears distorted.
I have seen other presses (Xerox 1000, Ricoh...) where the clear really had a nice POP and dead register. I am very disappointed in what I see with this i5 and its clear toner application.

Techs seem to be at a loss. Has anyone had similar issues with a definitive solution?
