    Hello:

As it says... we are seeking recomendations for a digital press to print envelopes and long media... We are looking at KM C1060 but it seems that you can't do both on that model press. Adding the feeder that will handle the envelope specific drawer means that the bypass for longer sheets cannot be installed. Apparently the KM C2060 has addressed this issue, but I don't know this for certain.

When printing envelopes we want to be able to load more than 1 to 10 envelopes in a bypass tray. An envelope specific drawer that holds about 100 pieces seems more efficient. Or the ability to add our small press envelope feeder to a digital press would be ideal...

There are some devices by OKI and Xante that will do these two types of media, but I don't consider them in the same league as a "digital press".

Does anyone know of other digital presses that will efficiently print a variety of envelopes sizes and be able to print 26 inches in length or longer that you feel are good digital presses for a variety of digital printing?

    Many thanks for your thoughts!

    Jean...

Curious if you settled on a machine.

The Xante/OKI were interesting to me for both the envelope feeder and the print length option (in our case to do dust jackets and posters.) A machine that fills both niches that my xerox doesn't. However, price per print was too high to make that really work for us so I didn't pursue it. For a logo on envelopes, I could see it and the advantage of not running envelopes through my main machine.

I have found that the Konica C2060/C2070 seems to be the most versatile... but the trick is all in the way it is configured... Konica has a low profile XL feeder that has a feed drawer that will feed 29.5 inches and will accommodate the envelope feeding option - about 100 envelopes in the drawer at a time. This low profile feeder also means that the bypass feeder can be added and is able to handle and feed up to 47 inches in length. The longer lengths do limit the weight of the media to 256 gsm.

Steer clear of Intec colour splash digital printers in Australia, I bought one back in march and was getting a line through any solid prints. 5 months later the technicians still cannot get to the bottom of the problem. They run simple jobs fine but struggle on solid prints or on some screen work. They tell me that a $5000 rip will fix my issue! Yeah right, a box with a generic software program worth $5k will make all the difference. Wish they had have told me from the start, however as far as envelopes go they have a machine with a dedicated envelope feeder that feeds from the bottom and conveyor which looks ok for that type of work. But that is not why I bought the machine and they knew that as well. Pretty unimpressed right now.
