we just started up a new Rapida 106. KBA has us pack the blanket for .008 printing kiss. I'm old school and think it should be .004-.006. can anyone tell me what they are packing too?

I've been using .003-.004 for many years, but who am I to contradict one of the world's largest press manufacturers. I would maybe go with their recommendation first, and see what happens.

    Alibryan,
so here is way I ask, we started the press up with the same blanket (ebonys) we were using on both LS840's Komoris. same ink, same board (we're folding carton) same everything. but had such a bad tail pick/piling on the blanket we went to the Day 3000. and a lower tack ink.
that left us with more dot gain then we thought we should have. redid the plate curve (pressSync)
but here is what we see from day to day, if the waters are not set spot on we get more gain in the 1/4 tone. even 1-2 numbers on the water speed will move the dot gains......but only in the 1/4 tones.

.008 does sound a bit too tight. Are you sure that the plate surface isn't .004 under bearer, where you need .008 over on the blanket to arrive at .004 plate to blanket pressure?
