We have 2 x 5 colour and coating presses, 1 being an LS and the other a GL. Both machines have a problem in that an ink doctor roller will stop turning while on the run or busy with a wash up. Strangely enough on both presses the first unit the problem started on was the 4th unit, our Magenta. Once the ink doctor motor turns off we can not carry on with any operation, so we turn the machine on and
off ( sometimes a few times ) until the problem goes. This is quite frustrating as we are losing production time which can not be gained back, our electricians and engineers can not figure out why this keeps happening. Has anybody experienced this before? if so, any ideas on why it is happening and how do we stop it?

    why not Komori ?

As far as i know you can get the help from kemtech as the Komori rep's in SA - why not use them ?
it can be a PLC issue or current issues or others , yet the safe way is to check on press and test for the reasosn.
when it happens you will see a change on the diagnostics of the press as erroers - but this can only be seen on site & on time.
I tthink this will be the fastest way to your solution , and if they do not come up with one they are fully supported by Komori UK & Japan.
At the end this WILL BE the cheapest way

Thankyou, Kemtek have been working on the problem and they can not explain why this is happening. Our electricians are swopping and testing different Drives and Motors to establish what to fix but they can not figure out why it is happening.

ask Kemtech to get Richard Gilbertson in on your problem - i believe that will be your final stop to a solution

Hi. I had this happening a couple of times before. I had to clean the oil from the disk on the back of the motor. It must be done very carefully as the disk is extremely fragile. I hope this helps.
