    Hi,

I have a QMDI 46-4 plus that began eating sheets this weekend. After approximately 10,000 sheets the machine began double feeding + and we began getting sheets of stock wrapped around the ink rollers eating up plates. How can we prevent his?

What kind of stock? Are you running your double sheet detector?

I am running 60# Gloss Text with the double detector on. It catches the double but the sheet ends up next to the plate wrapped around an ink roller requiring dis-assembly of the rollers to clear. The paper separator fingers seem to project 5mm when completely extended.

Yes, we cleaned all compressor filters and the unit seems to otherwise functioning correctly. The sheet separators extend about 5mm.

Is it possible the blanket is pulling the sheet out of the grippers? Is the double the sheet that gets in the rollers?

Yes sir. It is the double that ends up on the rollers. I am going through the feed system to see if I can improve the double feed issue. (checking the fingers, reducing blast air...)

Static can be an issue also.

I do not put much faith in them. If the static is heavy they do not work well. When you slide a sheet off the top of the pile does it feel like it wants to drag? You have been having some lows in the 40's and highs in the mid 60's, I'm guessing you have been running your heater in the morning.
