We looked at what seems to be every digital option under the sun, including the mgi. We had our samples printed on each machine and the mgi does a nice job. I have a hard time believing that the print engine is the same as a Konica Minolta. If you ask me they are not even in the same catagory.
I would put the mgi's print quality at the level of an indigo or igen. Ultimately we are leaning toward the indigo. Many of our jobs have a ton of solid coverage and we would end up using a lot of toner. So it would seem that paying for only what you use (toner) would be a good idea but not in our case due to the amount of coverage our work has. The other benefit to the indigo is they charge a click per color so that will benifit us when we do 2 color work, they actually have a unit for a spot color.

In our city we are working with KONICA 6500 and Konica 6000/7000 press for 4 years. One print shop 2 months ago was put in one MGI Meteor DP60 Pro.He asked if we can servise the machine decause the dealer is 500 km away. Finally the main body of the machine, (exept feeding and finising), is a KONICA 6500.They have the same quality for printing and KONICA 6500 has better cost per copy than MGI Meteor DP60 Pro.We can use all the parts from Konica but i think that the toner have chip for Meteor.

    Hi everyone ,
I am running a Meteor DP8700 XL and we are looking for suitable 10 mil Rigid vinyl that will run duplex without the melting issues or scratching or static problems. Currently we are using (GPA ultra digital 10 mil rigid vinyl) its not working very well.

    Thanks

we have a dp8700 in the "far east" ( singapore ) as of 1st week of july our press is down till now. electronic issues with the circuit boards. As of 29 july we are still waiting on new circuit boards. Apparently they are going to arrive on friday 31 july only shipped from factory 27 july. I am wondering why it has taken so long for replacement parts. So from 1st week of july till 4 week of july we have not done any printing which has caused irreparable damage to our business. I cant recommend enough that you dont only have 1 machine in your shop or you will be suffering if the one machine you have is out of action.

MGI customer support in recent months has been horrible. We have a problem with ours too, yet with the Fiery, which has fried it's motherboard and HDD. We have replaced them but we are still fighting with MGI support to get the installation cd's :D Things started moving only when we started contacting the top management...

we are finally up and running in november but it has been 4 months. So unless you have a spare press, you may want to consider what you are going to do if you cannot print for 4 months.
