All I'm looking for is a small format 20' 2 colour press to meet particular needs in my city, letterheads, business cards, brochures and small carton printing.
Four colour work goes mainly on a Komori Enthrone 29 - fantastic machine.

I thought I'd stay with Komori but can't find a lithrone 220 to save my life. So I've looked at Ryobi 522s as a substitute, my Komori Tech's saying I should stay away from them . The Ryobi tech says the machine's great, fast make ready, good stability and good prints. Who do I believe?

Any users of the 522HE or 522GX here? Please what's your experience like? I can't keep waiting, I've got to make a decision before this month runs out.

    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm using a two color Ryobi. These are very good machines. Try to find a machine built after 1999. Once set properly these machines give very stable printing quality but do not compare it with komori or heidi. These are good for most of quality jobs but won't perform like a lithrone.

Both machines will do a good job for you. It's more on the pressman at that Point. We have 7 ryobi presses in production right now .

The Ryobi 522 is a good machine. I personally do not think they are as durable as a Komori. I am a working supervisor in an all Ryobi shop. We have 7 series 5 series and 3 series presses. They are a little more problematic than Komori. Just make sure you have a good maintenance schedule. The Ryobi should work fine for what you need.

Thanks guys, your advice is great. Ryobi's service here is suspect so its better I stay away from them.
On the other hand, I've found a lithrone 220 that's perfect for what I need but it's damaged in the cylinders of the first unit. The seller is offering to fix the damages if I would pay for it. My question is, how good are these repairs? Are they reliable?
    Can they be done properly?

They can but it's a pain staking process. You need to drill the cylinder and set a type of rivet in it then basically grind it out so it's smooth. I've have Seenough them done correctly but if your service is suspect then I woukd walk on the deal. If it isn't done right you will alway have a problem and now you can't really fix it unless you drill mote out . As you can see the problem here.
