    Hi Guys,

We've just moved an old Polar 76 EM guillotine from factory a to factory b. I've installed the machine and have the correct supply present. but cannot close the start circuit from the key switch at the rear of the machine.

Any advice or pointers would be appreciated especially regarding safety interlocks in the start circuit, or any other secrets you have!

I've looked round for the manual with no joy :(

    Thanks in advance,

    Spike

    Hi Spike

If you switch the 76 EM on you have to do a so called reference run. If the machine does not do this sequence by its own, you can start it again by reordering a new backgauge movement (forward or backward, whatever is necessary).
If the reference run will not be successfully finished you can use the auxiliary function. After switching on the machine push the button “C”. Now you can move the backgauge without measurement. In this mode you may check the backgauge drive including the input / output functions, the backgauge motor, motor brake, the limit switches, etc. Backgauge positioning is in this mode not possible. Using a program is not possible. You can cut.
    I would check this first.

    Hi Coloured paper,
It seems i have no display or power to the rest of the machine. I have checked i have supply to the small box at the rear of the machine
but nothing happens when i turn the key switch. Is it something obvious? Thanks for your quick reply.
    Regards,

    Spike

    Hi Coloured Paper,

I have also read all your posts regarding Polar cutters and you seem knowledgeable with them. Can you assist me how to by-pass the light-barrier board (LS) on Polar 76 EM ? This board is getting too problematic. Thanks...Lito

    Hi Coloured paper,
Very funny. Kidding aside, there are 76 EMs model without light-barrier. Do you know how they configured the main board without the LS board?

    Yes, for sure I know.
There were machines with and without light barrier. A long time ago the safety law was regarding the machine configuration different. But the law always says you are never allowed to bypass any safety function!
The next problem is the following. The company Polar does want people like you bypassing all safety just with a little jumper. That’s why the machines without light barrier having a simulator inside. You can by buy a simulator at any Heidelberg agency as a normal spare part for a machine which was delivered without light barrier. But you don’t like to buy a spare part. You like to cut hands off without paying any money. This is your problem.

    Dear Coloured paper,
Why do you assume that people like us don't want to buy the spare part? You maybe a polar technician, but you don't have the right to say that things to me. I don't owe you money and you don't provide my daily needs. So, try to be nice and respect other people. They have rights too. My biggest problem is with you.

Yes, you are right. This is the correct part number. Now you can go to the next Heidelberg agency and ask for the price.
