Recently commissioned 2008 SM52 5 LX. The machine has the Anicolor system with Anilux coating. We have a very good printer in mind but I do have training concerns. Printer is currently operating a Komori 52 5 colour no coating no Anicolor. Question is how difficult will he find the transition? Press will be situated in Turkey so I would be interested to know what training period will be required?

    Hi Anthony

If I Understand The query the new press is an Anicolor with Coating?
1, Depends on two things how experienced is the printer?
How much experience has he, has he run an SM 52 before, if he is experienced and run an SM 52 before then he is half way there, he will need to get used to the inking system and the coater, if not then it will take some time to get that experience.
2, And what sort of training is being provided (there is training and training)?
If the training is just a tick box exercise then it will not be sufficient if the minder has no experience.

The Anicolor although sold as green button technology, is still a printing press it is only the inking system that is different it will only work at it its best if it is being looked after it needs to be kept clean and the maintenance kept up to date roller settings etc are important so the minder or senior minder needs to be someone who is considerate about such things.

As Ade said, it depends on the press operator's capability that how quickly he can learn a new press. If a press operator knows what is printing then it does not matter which press he is running.
Proper training should also be given to the press operator and some learning period in which he can understand the press controls and the Anicolor inking system because its a very different sort of inking system than conventional inking systems.
In my opinion , at least 15 days in which he can understand the press behavior with different coverage jobs.

Thanks Ade. He is a Komori operator so this is my concern. He is an extremely good printer hence why we want he. Yes agreed about just ticking a list is good enough and any training from an outside source will probably only be sufficient to cover this. My instinct tells be a fully trained operator with all relevant experience should be employed to aid training.

If Your Chap Is An Experinced Printer Then Running The Press Shouldnt Be A Problem Given Time.
The Things That Will Trip Him Up Are The End Of Week, Rebuilding The Chambers And Knowing What To Look Out For To Avoid Any Problems, Both Inking and Coating, Given It Is Going Into Some Where That Will Prove Difficult To Get Any Help Then Giving Your Chap As Much Experince As Possible Will Be Invaluable.
