When the machine is switched on, it gets to the point where the screen shows the Canon logo and the progress bar. After quite a long time the machine tries to restart, and it continues to do that over and over again.

The machine was working fine last Friday, but then on Monday it started to do the above.

    I would value any suggestions.

    Hi Alex.
    Thank you for your help.
Is this easily solved? and is the hard disc a standard unit?
Do you know what's involved in replacing the disc?
Will it need to have system info downloaded for it?

    Regards
    Bill

    Hi Alex.
Thank you, I've bought that one this morning.
After replacing this hard disc, will the machine need anything doing or should it recognize the files on the disc.

    Regards
    Bill

    Hi Alex.
I've got a copy of the service manual for this machine, but it doesn't have any info about replacing the hard disc. Do you know where I can get a diagram showing the location of the hard disc before I start taking the machine apart?
    Regards
    Bill

    Hi Alex.

    Thanks for that info.
I've replaced the hard disc, but its still the same.
Any idea's what I can try next?

Help! the next problem I have is that I need to print some Order of Service booklets for a funeral that is taking place next Wednesday. I'm up against it for time and need to find a solution or get another printer to do the job. As they say "it never rains but it pores"

it's sound like the second hdd is faulty......the machine reads on start up from the hdd if the progress bar freezes/hangs this indicates hdd failure

have you tried hdd check? I think it 1& 7 or 1& 9 held down at start up........
