Hi all! I'm a photographer and I am about to release a book of my work. The spec. my book will be around 8"x10", 80 pages. I am planing to print about 500 to 1000 copies. Are there any recommended printers in the US that print such vol with a reasonable price? Thanks in advance.

Printed conventionally, there is probably not much difference between 500 and 1,000 copies in total cost.
I'd also ask for a quote at 2,000 or 2,500 copies which we found was a sweet spot for us even though it meant after the initial rush of orders we would store stock for 5 years before running out. At least it will give you some interesting options to consider, whether the book might have a broader appeal that you would be interested in marketing beyond the art value, whether the subject is timeless and you can profit from trickling out orders for a longer duration even if you come out with another book at the same time or whether you need it to sell in a shorter timeframe.

Yes, you are right, there is probably not much difference between 500 and 1,000 copies in total cost, the good quantity is 3000 copies for total cost.
If printing in china, ready cheap booklet printing cost.

For the quantity you listed going with a POD printer would be your best bet. This is the sweet spot for digital printers. Once you go into 2-3000 books you may want to go with a traditional offset printer. Consider us for any short run (POD) printing project you may have in the future, we may be able to save you some money.

If you ever consider printing overseas, we are located in Malaysia. We could send you samples. We do have both Offset and Digital presses to fulfill your need.

We are willing to work with escrow services to ensure you receive what you're paying for.

For the volume you're paying for, I'd think that you'd save at least 50% by outsourcing it overseas. You can buy a ticket, fly into Malaysia, look at the color proofs and the actual print out, and binding processes, have a decent holiday, and still be saving some money.

Let us know if you're interested, and I'd be happy to assist you with whatever you need help with.

Just for your reference, we have clients from all over the world, such as:-

Mercedes Benz of South Africa - calendars (40,000 sets every year over the last 3 years), catalogs (50,000 to 100,000 pcs each new model over the last 3 years)
Volkswagen Malaysia (various catalogs, brochures, flyers - varying quantity - based on tender jobs)

Our digital press could print micro-text (single black color - up to 0.8 point text) for security printings. We are printing a few local college's certificates, which we aren't allowed to reveal based on our P&C agreements.

We can be contacted through sales@klop.my

Thank you, and hope to hear from you soon.
