Having ghosting problems on L528 2005. Any ideas? I'm new to this press but we are using LED ink and special light for curing.

Post a picture of the issue if possible.

If there is a non image area on the gripper end a strip will show up in the image behind or on the tail half of the sheet.

usually this is caused from carrying too much water , or your forme rollers are not set correctly onto your plate/s. If you have an alcohol free press it is almost impossible to prevent ghosting. First thing though is check your water ph and your roller sizes ( including the dampers ), and settings.

If everything is set correctly, the water / ink balance is correct & the ghosting still appears try oscillating a form roller slightly to help minimize the problem. That of course is assuming you have an ink form that allows oscillation. Sometimes the slight back and forth motion will help break up the ghosting. Another thing that might help is to add a takeoff bar at the front or tail of the sheet in the area where the image is lighter to help take off a little more ink to help even the ink film across the problem area.

if the ghosting is in a pms color and you tried everything else you could help it by adding a bit of opaque white to the color thats ghosting. I wouldn't use opaque white in any of the 4 process colors though. As a sure fire last resort fix you could skew the entire form by about an inch or so on all the plates. Of course this will usually mean a bigger sized sheet and additional work post press, but its pretty much a total cure.

Another thing to check depending on the model is if the copper rider / oscillator underneath the dampener is oscillating or just spinning the internal bearings go on thees same as the bridging rollers on other models but when they go you will usually get a repeat towards the tail edge
