    Hi All
Hopefully someone can help I have just bought a DC242 from an auction, the seller has no idea how to remove. So it's up to me. I have removed finishers from the early DC5065 and DC60 series but not on any others, is it similar and what tools would i need to take. Any other advice, as i have never transported one, I ve got a van with a tail lift and it's easy access both ends, was just going to take all toner cartridges out all paper from trays and the finisher off. I have to drive 5 hours with it in the van but most of it on motorways.
    Kind regards
    Dan

I can't comment on transporting it as I haven't ever done it myself, but as far as the finisher if it's the professional or advanced, ours required only one screw to be removed with a Phillips screwdriver. There is a bracket that screws onto the machine itself, and after that the finisher rolls up to the machine and clips on with a latch inside the door. One phillips screw secures the latch, but it may not even have that. Very easy.

    Hi Jeff
Perfect sounds exactly the same as the older ones. Anybody know about transporting them?

I have moved quit a few in my time. Several things I would recomend are: Shrink wrap, cardboard boxes and some ratcheting tie downs.

The finisher is removed by pulling a latch inside the door towards you. The bracket is attached by two 5.5 mm screws they also have a Phillips head.

Remove all cables and put them somewhere safe, drawer 1&2 work great. Also the monitor and base, Look under the base wor the screws to remove, also remove the two white thumb screws. The toners should be fine inside the machine.

Wrap the finisher and main unit so that the DADF and all the trays wont fly open while loading or speeding down the interstate.

Lastly use the cardboard on the corners where the straps cross the finisher and machine, double it over for max protection.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much that is perfect, I have one more question if anyone can help. Apparently the weight is aout 380kg but cant tell if that is with all the full addons. I have seen people use sheets of polycarb to help slide these along. Does anyone have any recommendations I have to get it over a 2 inch threshold of the door and not sure whether it will be light enough without the pro booklet finisher to lift over.
    Thanks in advance Dan

I moved ours through a 36" doorway over a 1" threshold and I needed a second person to help me by pushing while I lifted. I used some pieces of wood to build a little ramp and moved it up a small step at a time. It's just heavy enough to be a bit difficult for me to get it over a threshold being so careful not to damage any of the plastic panels. I believe our main unit was around 580 lbs or 260 kg.

To everyone who gave input thank you very much. It was a 6 hour drive, 2hours to disassemble move and put on pallets and secure. Another 6 hour drive, with half hour other end putting on mezzanine floor at my bosses work. It'll stay there now for about a month until i can get the garage converted ready for installation.

Does anybody have any insights for putting together, or is it just exact reverse. I've also started other posts as i'm after calibration strip and pdf manual.

    Cheers Dan
