Nebiolo Invicta 44 - 20 hex bolts to undo/redo per plate! Oh, and they thought it was a good idea to make a 3 colour version

Crabtree Vickers - Having a spare set of detachable (from the press) plate clamps from which to hang the plate meant that you could have a set of plates ready to fit before your previous job had finished. Hmmm but before you could hang the plates you had to punch it in 10 positions grip and back edge!

Any more 'creative' press innovations you'd care to add?

i dont understand why any sheefed press manufacturer wouldnt make the drive wheels from the feeder onto the feedboard narrower to fit into areas of 1/8 inch trim.

non moving double sheet detectors on the stream feeder. it would cause streaks on my work & turn coated jobs if i sent it back through a little too soon.
why not just be able to move it a hair to sit it in the gutter. i had to rubber band the rider roller up on a few jobs and really pay attention to the feeder.
my heidelberg stream feeder also had to lifting sucker suction control. i had to cut a slice into the hose to back off suction when i ran short grain bond stocks. and then put duct tape over it for boards. a little valve there would have been nice (this was a late 70`s sorkz) i was going to do that....one of these days.

Komori...yes, yes I know I bang the drum for them occasionally :D ...the standard mechanical sidelay is very robust and I can't fault it for precise register at all speeds.

However, most K-men have been caught out with solids that run to the extremes of the sheet (laterally) on second pass the sidelay can scuff the reverse of the sheet - silver is highly prone to this.

Heidelberg S series machines, working on the first unit was such a pain for me, everything is arse backwards and I lost count of the amount of times I jumped off the step only to find myself hanging from something that stuck in the way like the roller adjustment dials.

if you didn't opt for the speed clamp option on the older Roland Records you had to deal with many clamp bolts. We had air wrench to make it a little quicker but it was still a long process.
