I want to know if I got a good/great/or average deal? I believe I held out and did a good bit of negotiating with Xerox on a new DC 242 with Fiery, Workstation, and Impose software... No Finishing or High Cap feeder, just basic catch tray.. I pay 330.90/month Color .049 BW .0129 Thanks!
For what it's worth we pay ~$700 a month for a 242, Fiery, Advanced Finisher, and Oversize High Capacity Feeder. I know the OHCF added a good deal to the price, but it's nice for feeding 12x18 covers for us.
I signed a 60-month lease on my Docucolor 242. Every time I get a new printer I seem to put about 3 months of research in and the agonizing process of deciding whether I want to go for it or not, projecting operating costs vs. quality benefits, and comparing with everything else available (in my case I was also considering an imagepress C1 for its gloss/flat versatility and a km 5501/ikon 560 for its registration accuracy) not to mention the options... Then once I get a machine it takes me a few months to come to terms with it, the print driver idiosyncrasies, the machine characteristics and any workarounds, etc. to get the most out of it. It seems 5 years passes before you know it, so I go for the savings in the monthly lease payment.
I am looking at quotes now and from what I can see you did very very well unless you signed for like 6 years. I have a Biz Hub C350 and I am on my last of 48 payments of $399, I have a Fiery Rip and a Booklet Maker w/3hole Punch. That machine was ready for the dumpster 12 payments ago. I have a quote for the "D242V", Light Prod Finisher, Extra Memory, Bustled DFE Fiery and a USB port Customer Ed, Unlimted Support... etc... 39 months = $840 48 months = $730 Your lease factor has a lot to do with your rate I locked in a no minimum click charge for the life of the lease at .051 Color .009 B&W I wanted to lock it in because I have another B&W Xerox lease that the Increase the click charge 10% every year on me. Does anyone have minimum monthlys to meet? How about double clicks for 11X17? Or extra charges for heavy coverage?
The OHCF oversize high capacity feeder adds a lot to the price of mine, but it's really nice if you run 12x18 -- actually it's really nice in general. I use it 99% of the time now because I like being able to load ~2000 sheets at a time. Be careful posting your clicks rates -- your contracts may state that they're confidential. But I'm paying the same ballpark (about a half cent more but I'm in a remote location too)
