I am looking for a factory trained service technician to service an AB Dick Century 3500 or Power Pro 34 press in or near Atlanta Georgia metro area. Impression to chain delivery timing is off and sheets are sticking to the blanket on tower 2...PM me if you can help or email me (preferred) at johnamartin at bellsouth dot net...even if you are not close to Atlanta and could help me via phone support I would appreciate it...

    Thanks in advance!

That is a one tough request! I had a Century 3500 few years back and could not find a tech within 100 miles and I am in NYC! Forget about factory trained, there was not a single offset press service company willing to touch it at all! I've got a descent use out of it anyway, can't say that I did not like it, not most friendly machine as far as performing adjustments, if it would have Kompacs, i'd probably kept it but guy at Kompac technologies said that they had build only twenty something units for it so my chances were slim to none...

Yeah I got this one a couple of weeks ago, mine has Kompacs, that is why I bought it plus is has the Infrared Dryer, 3 ink forms, vertical & horizontal running register and most of all the vacuum pull guides. I also love the plate clamps. I have a service manual and have gone through the press and set everything back to factory specs except I am having difficulty getting the impression to chain delivery gripper timing right, the sheets are pulling out of the grippers and sticking to the blanket on tower 2...If I can get this problem resolved I think I will really enjoy this machine...

May be of some help. What type of problems or parts do you need? I believe I have my training and part manuels somewhere.

Do you still have your 3500? I am looking for the brushes for the feeder that ride on the tail of the sheet but I don't want to buy from AB Dick/Presstek/Mark Andy if I can avoid it as the price I got was astronomical to say the least...I also have a few questions about the machine I was wondering if you might consider trying to answer via phone if you have the time....

Hi, no, I shipped everything with the press to the person who bought it. In my opinion, you should be happy that someone has the part you need regardless of price - looking for alternative is extreme luxury. I don't mind answering the phone I am just not sure how much help I could be - I am not a pressman - I am the guy who come to fix your copier / printer .... I could figure out mechanics/electronics of it for the most but if you need advice on how to make a nice print, I am not sure I could be the guy plus I had it few years ago so I can't vouch that my memory is fresh regarding it. Anyway - I don't mind, PM me your phone number, lets take it from there.

    thanks Roman,
The main issue I am having is:
    (1) glossy paper sticking to blanket on unit 2, if I feed a sheet manually and tug on the tail as it is on unit 2 I can feel a spot where the sheet is free between gripper change, not a problem on uncoated but gloss sticks to blanket, I think I can get this one right through trial and error of setting the impression gripper cam adjustment and the cd gripper cam on the sprocket.
    (2) the sheets "bounce" off the pull guide stop block, I have run many machines with mechanical pull guides but this is my first experience with vacuum pull guides. I have tried more and less vacuum, sheet pull to the block but then bounces off it anywhere from 1 to 2 mm...any ideas on this?

    Thanks,
    John
