    Hello,

We are planning to purchase a digital press that can print business cards ( upto 300gsm ), post cards, brochures etc.

What we want is that the digital press can complete the task of cutting and bending as well as we don't want any external machinery or work force to do such jobs.

The print run will be short runs like 50 or 100 quantity and our client require varied designs to print in single print run.

Can you guys recommend which is the best machine for such job, i saw online videos and xerox 550/560 was recommended however i am open to other brands and press which may work.

Budget is not an issue if the machine is right with all the features as mentioned above.

The monthly total print anticipated is around 30k at this stage.

The 550/560 are capable entry level printers. They won't do what you want though: the registration isn't that tight on this level machine, they won't duplex 12pt stock, and I don't think there's a slitter/trimmer available that would do everything you want without external finishing machines.
Would be interested in what you find for inline finishing equipment to do both business cards, brochures with bleeds, post card bleeds, etc. My prediction is that it will be at least 3x the cost of the 550/560.

That is a request straight out of a dream or after watching some good sci-fi movie. I also want one just like that if it also makes coffee and massage, it would be a good addition but not mandatory, cut everything out, ford if necessary, box it up, create and print shipping label, attach it to the box - all unattended - is enough.
But if budget is not a question, may be talking to a Duplo could solve the problem - they, theoretically, could shovel their DC-615 right to the exit of the machine, merge the user interface with printer to grab the data from the file....

When you say cutting and bending are all you are after is to saddle stitch and make booklets or are you after a 3 knife trim etc. All of our production and some office engines have the option to have finishing equipment attached inc hole punch, binding, booklet maker etc.

You get what you pay for so don't expect to pay cheap and expect the same output as an iGen with a perfect binder on the output. And with digital you get 100% more online finishing than with litho

What i am after is to make bifold brochures and cut business cards after print and make leaflets. Thats it. These are the main finishing jobs to be completed by the digital press.

I don't want to go drastic or sci-fi as one user has mentioned, its time of technology and i am sure things exist which can bundle up all tasks together. Why not go for latest options then to keep bagging about old ways of doing everything by hand when there are printers who can do all such jobs themselves. Like i said price is not an issue.

You can get online finisher to to the folding but you will need to use a guillotine to cut the cards by hand.

If all that was possible simultaneously, I would have it :) AT LEAST I would have thrown a screaming fit at my bosses door and not moved until I got my way or got let go, like a 2 year old. LOL

I know Igens can get something on the back end to diecut, and I KNOW they have booklet folders inline for many printers..

but all in one... not likely, especially on an office style printer. And the printers you mention, you don't want to put card stock anywherenear them, especially duplex. I had a 550. somedays ok others, it was a paperweight. Actually We still use that 550 for proofing only.

Xerox sell pre cut business card stock so that you just push them out when printed. I'd imagine thats fairly expensive though!

I was going to make the suggestion to buy stock which is already scored pre cut to punch out as Fiery said. it would be an option to think about depending on your quantity. we do that on occasions .
