new igen 4 user here. apart from using fuser oil is there anything else you can suggest to clean the fuser roller as we are having to change these regulary due to build up on roller which shows up on the printed sheet. paper we are mainly using is 350 gsm silk. Any help would be welcome.

I suggest keeping two ready to go, for quick change. Clean when it gets build up.

I have some stuff called "fuser roller cleaner" from Xerox. part number: 43E860 scrub with that. it's an abrasive cream. don't get it on anything plastic. instant ruin...

it also helps to develop a high heat tolerance on your fingers. I' ve been scrubbing fusers for years. People laugh at me when I clean them still burning hot. Especially if you use toner cleaner, smells like oranges. Clean a hot roller with it, your room will smell like a fruit stand. :)

    fuser roller cleaner

when you say toner cleaner is that the fuser roller cleaner you mentioned or 2 different cleaners. we have never been supplied with any cleaner just fuser oil. our press is approx 2 months old and our trainer/instructor never spoke of any cleaner only fuser oil which does not appear to remove any build at all. Also the 2 metal roller's which come into contact with the fuser and fuser web/roll are covered in parts with a build up like toffee- any suggestions how to remove this- thanks in advance.

A cleaner I have found useful is 43E860 if you can get it via your local engineer (Jeff?). It is in limited supply here in the UK but it has been found to increase the life of the heat rolls and external rolls if used sparingly

the toner cleaner I mentioned, is a "citrus" smelling stuff. it is handy on other equipment, it MIGHT help.

the other is the fuser roller paste that MarkD mentioned also "43e860". it works REALLY good.

Now, on the heating rollers to get that cement toffee like stuff off...I scrape them with a razor blade. Not sure if thats good procedure, but Ive done it at least 10 times, and they are still going strong.

I take off the thick parts with the blade (sideways, like shaving) then I go after the rest with a scotchbrite pad and that fuser roll cleaner. and finish with a rag and alcohol.

I use the scouring pad pad on the back of a dish sponge with fuser oil..
I will ask the tech for the cleaning solution

any time i get a build up on the fuser, that fuser becomes shot. any amount of cleaning will not allow it not to build up again, which happens quickly once again. but the fuser cleaner will make the room smell citrusy on a hot roller! i usually get build up like that on the fuser from titan 100# gloss text paper (seems to be the only paper that does it to me).

You are checking the fuser web aren't you. From time to time my second shift operator will put a new one in and he doesn't reset the clicks. I reset it the next day but then my web life and clicks don't match up.
