Great - another postage hike this year to 34 cents for a postcard and 49 cents for a letter or trifold. The postal service doesn't make it easy to stay in the print business and compete with internet delivery where prices stay steady or go down instead of constantly going up.

    (9/25/2013)
WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service today announced proposed price changes, including an increase in the price of a First-Class Mail single-piece letter from 46 cents to 49 cents. The proposed changes, which would go into effect in January 2014, are intended to generate $2 billion in incremental annual revenue for the Postal Service.

Highlights of the new single-piece First-Class Mail pricing, effective Jan. 26, 2014 include:
    · Letters (1 oz.) — 3-cent increase to 49 cents
    · Letters additional ounces — 1-cent increase to 21 cents
    · Letters to all international destinations (1 oz.) — $1.15
    · Postcards — 1-cent increase to 34 cents

Well, they loose $100 mil a day! They must suck it out of somewhere... One way or another - it is this or Government just will give them billions of taxpayers money. What I don't understand, why Mail can be just contracted to UPS or FedEx (at least this way FedEx could have a chance to have something to with Federal otherwise they don't ) Somehow UPS and FedEx managed to stay profitable while USPS is sucking endless billions out of taxpayers, if after significant number of price increases they did'n manage to be self sufficient - let them stay home....

That's why they call it a vicious cycle, bad things make worse things worse. Rinse, repeat. Our government is getting inefficient.
