Do people usually prefer a square back or a round back hardcover book?

Does it only come down to aesthetics, or are there any functional/practical concerns involved with square back (where there is a board in the spline of the case binding) or round back hardbound books?

I like the way the dust jacket looks over a round back hardcover book better.

Prefer a board in the spine. Less creep with square back and it stays nice and "square" over time.

Generally, rounded back can open flattly than square back but the cost is more expensive.
