Hi everyone used to have a favorit back in the day :)

now a heidelberg house with a couple of sm 74's

just weighing up some roland 700's with a coater say around 1998 - 2001 as a option to a cd102

see theres a big price hike for the post 2000 presses whats the difference?

also how do you all find the reliability of them

been thinking of one with the autoplate loader and the sheet scanner

anything to watch out for on them

    massive thanks in advance

also was thinking as another option to a 6 col one of the 4 back 4's hows the perfector unit on the rolands?

The Perfecting unit is based on the Miller press engineering, and has proven to be fantastic and superior to other designs. The Scanner is a Grapho-metronic and has no issues of reliability or accuracy. There is a difference between the APL and the PPL, both plate loading systems on the
manroland, one is assisted plate loading and the other is fully automated. I see mostly PPL's at my client’s plants. As a whole, the manroland still
remain the best sheet-fed presses on the market. Do not be blinded by puffy performance claims of higher production speed or extra gadgets that other
presses might come with. In the end what is important is reliability and print quality. Disclaimer: we have no affiliation to manroland or any other manufacturer. Just been in the service industry for 28years and speaking out of experience.
    Cheers.

Tom, I am not sure to what kind of pre-press equipment you are referring to. Manroland produces a plate scanner, and that only works with manroland
console. There are some technical improvements in the design and systems of post 2000 machines, mostly mechanical, at the feeder level, transfer level, and in the electronics with more reliable systems. Also, they came out with "Hi print" that offers more flexibility and efficiency for long runs. You may want to check out their link: http://www.manroland-sheetfed.com/roland700hiprinths
It all depends on what year your machine will be. The rule of thumb is, they seem to have made major improvements on post 2000 models.

Think we will prob hunt for a 2000/2001 705 with a coater :) an sheet scanner

Did most of the changes come in on the post 2000 drips model with the cream finish and bigger legs? Or a much later one?

Thanks again really a massive help :) tom

ive only ever run a 1996 700, but i can honestley it is an absolutley brilliant machine. it gets up to colour quick and it holds it, it delivers very well at speed and with the deltas you dont get hickies. the Console is a little bit over complicated but once youve got the hang of it, its a piece of piss.
