Diodes for QMDI

Where is a good source to purchase Diodes?

Quite expensive to buy from Presstek or Heidelberg but we have bought a few supposed "Good used ones" with mixed results from good to completely dead.

 

Is it possible to open diodes cover and change the diode, that tiny component?
Sure there is somewhere same kind of diode manufacturer. ~830nm, 0,5w or is it 1w.

I´ll have QMDI also after this month, so this is interesting question.

 

i havent heard of any one doing this - I suppose must be possible - but probably beyond me
