We have a 2002 SM 74 6\C that when we hang the plates they are so crooked between units that we have to use paper wedges on them to get them in register. We have had Heidelberg in here twice on this issue and they will zero out the council and square up the plate clamps but then after hanging plates for another couple shifts were right back to the same thing. We have checked the plates and they are dead on. Is there anything to check to make sure that when we are zeroing out the council that the clamps are actually going back to zero? Or any other ideas what could be causing this?

Also we have a laterial adjustment motor that went out any idea how difficult it is to change it?

Plate clamps should not be moving especially after Heidelberg has readjusted them. Are you sure that the plates arent pulling out of the clamps? If you rehang the plates is it ok again or is it still crooked? Also, lateral register motor is pretty easy to change. Located on operator side, 4 bolts 2 wires. Usually when I change register motors I change the pot too.

What we did this morning was zeroed out everything and hung the plates, we again had to use the wedges. Once we were done with the job we took the plates off and set them back to zero they registered just like they did when we hung them the first time so I don't think there pulling out of the clamp. We also visually looked at the plates to make sure they were all the way down on the register pens and they were.

The 4 bolts that you are talking about are they the ones that come in from behind that flange\plate?

    Thanks

As exheidmec explained, the plates should not be moving out from the clamps, but defective potentiometers in more than one units, makes it a little difficult to find the problem. Is there any delay in lateral or circumferential adjustments of the units? If any motors are reaching to the adjustment point with a delay, you should replace the motor as well as the potentiometers.

If there was an issue with the motors on the plate adjustment motors would they not register as an error on the display console ....
