Just wondering what kind of wages are being paid to operate and feed on a Heidelberg 2 color/4-color/8-color. I may want to relocate... Thanks.
Call the local printing union in the areas you are interested in. That is probably the best way to get a feel for what pay is in that area. You can usually figure non-union will be around a dollar an hour less depending on the shop
We pay our guys in Central Florida around $14-2 color $16 4color and our 6color operator around $21.PS our 6 color operator drives a Cadillac CTS SV
Oh yeah......here I thought I was getting under paid . I drive an older GM diesel 4x4 truck But I love it Seems this time of year here in Canada this is the vehicle of choice!
In the San Fran (bay area) A 640 pressman makes 30.00 to 36.00 but I've heard of a few guys making as much as 42.00 Second pressman/feeders start around 15.00 and top out around 25.00.
In central IL it is about 18-20 for a good pressman. The union shops pay more but are closing up fast. There isn't a lot of competition to drive wages up but the cost of living is low so 20 is a lot of money.
Chicago Area Varies, North/NorthWest of and around the city you should start around $28-$32 to run a 640, though as a 2/C operaotor you may make maybe $25 ($1 more than a feeder). West/south west of the city you will make less and do more with less amenities and personel. Where in the far suburbs, depending on the size of the shop, you will either Make the same as or better than A North side Printer; rule of thumb out here- the farther you are away from O'hare, the less you will make.
Down here in Ontario Canada I run a speedmaster cd 102 6 color, And its all UV i’v a pressman for 10 years I get 20 the other pressman get 23-26 because they have another 10 years on me we pay our feeders 12-15
$34 for the 8c, $28 for 4 to 6 colour in the 40" machines, and $25 to run anything else. Now on the repair side of life I charge out my services at $100 per for large press and to fix anything else is $50 per hour. I have a union card and after 35+ years I know most shops and the owners, no shortage of work, hope that helps
sounds as though you are in the communistic country. In Russia payment may differ ten times depending on the region and demand of the offer.Real market economy. the fixed payment and labor union were in the USSR..
