I ran a brand new 1996 724 series Roland and I have ran 700 and 900's every since. I know them well if you have any questions..

It's 2 color perfecting press and I need to know how to set the rollers correctly, because we have problems with 2nd unit and all of our manuals are in dutch.

The 700 has 4 ink forms and 3 of the forms come out from the water pan side and #4 form comes out from the plate cylinder side. Before doing anything, with the guard up over the plate cylinder there is a threaded hex screw on both sides of the press on the side frames. These 2 screws control oscillation if you turn 1 screw counter clockwise all the way you have half your oscillation on 3 forms. The #4 form has little stops on each side of the roller collars themselves to give more control. The other side will give full oscillation. You want BOTH of those screwed ALL THE WAY IN flush with the side frame so you have no oscillation because that will make putting your ink form rollers back in the press easier (there is a little pin that oscillates inside the roller collar) and that will lock it in position for re-assembly of your forms. set all 4 forms to plate 4-5mm . There is more adjustments but the 700 ink train is fairly robust and spring-tension loaded. Tap ink on and install one roller at a time checking its stripe. Chances are you will have a bad roller if one is not touching. There is 2 transfer rollers in the press that are inter changeable that are notorious for short life. Set your water roller to the plate lighter than the book says probably around 7mm. The Ink ductor is the biggest bear to set and also HAS to be in tolerance because if the rollers is to small you can BREAK the roller collars trying to set it. I will help you anyway I can. I have been running 700's for 16 years. The oscillation has a design flaw and will break often so you need to physically check to see that oscillation is off or if not its broke. running oscillation all the time will cause problems like flipping ink ecspecially on a 40" sheet

I am currently not working but I have a company that's real interested and I interview tomorrow. They have several Rolands and the press I will be on is a Brand new 700 eight color perfector. But all of the ink trains in the 700's are almost the same from 1996 until today. I put the ink rollers from our brand new 2007 into my 1996 R700 because my company ordered (UV) chameleon rollers for the new press. We shared roller cores so they are the same.. If i can I will get you the roller diagrams.

Just out of curiousity, do you know if the brand new R708 you are talking about is coming from the factory in Germany? We provide independent service for manroland and would love it if they still produce brand new orders.

@controlgraphics I left my number on your companies VM. Please PM me or call and I will share any specifics that I can. I have worked with several independent contractors from Roland in the past and I am anxious to hear what you have to offer. I am considering accepting the position and that will require me to utilize all of my resource's. Thank you for respecting my privacy concerns.
