Single color with variable speed pulley? If so, likely bearing(s) in pulley either o motor or drive, or motor itself, you'd probably have to remove motor to try to isolate problem. Good Luck.

Good point Risu - keep it simple....another thought may be that the toothed belt is in very poor condition or the pulley flanges are badly grooved, you can easily check this, KGM, by running your finger across the running surfaces of the pulleys, if they are ridged, which after years of running, the combination of a bad belt and badly worn pulley surfaces will sound like this. Good Luck

Thanks for the replys everyone, the Gto is old enough but in great condition.
it is my second machine, i also run a lithrone 26.
not that familiar with the inner workings of the GTO, so i dont know what or where the variable speed pulley is and the variator also.

Just follow the speed handle through the machine and there is the pulley, you may need to take a guard off?

KGM - Variable speed pulley - variator - same thing. Pulleys located on the main drive motor, under the rectangular cover as Gooner mentioned, also pulley inside the lower main frame "just follow the belt"! Good Luck
