I am currently Using a cheap (£250 Ebay) A3 guillotine[IMG] and am wondering would it be worth my while getting a guillotine from "Ideal" or "eba"

My problem with is that the paper keeps shifting under the weight of the blade
However i am working with a limited budget and cannot justify a purchase of a guillotine if it is just going to have another list of problems

Has anyone used this brand of guillotine or have another affordable recomendation

I started with a manual guillotine -- it worked well for cutting short run full bleed posters, tickets, and that sort of thing. But once I started trying to cut volume with it, I realized i needed something larger. Actually, first I added more manual guillotines to create a small assembly line so each one was set at one of the cuts. I had three inline because they were slow to set. And those small tabletop cutters took lots of time to adjust continuously, replace sheared bolts, and a ton of force to get the clamp tight enough (to keep paper from shifting, I actually broke the clamp wheel on one of the cheap ones where it threaded on!) But at the end of the day, once I started cutting runs of 1,000 to 2,000 12x18 sheets on one, it took so much force on the handle that I was hurting my teeth from putting so much force on the handles (no joke)

Start looking for a bigger floor standing electric programmable guillotine with an automatic clamp in the $3,000 to $5,000 range to start. That is the way to go, and well worth a bit of extra money for what it saves you in frustration.

I have a suggestion on a guillotine cutter. The Triumph 4250 is fully automated guillotine cutter that will work very well for the production that you are currently doing. We currently use this cutter and love it! The automation gives it the ability to save a lot of time in production which in turn can save you money.
