Hello there everyone, Im a graphic designer and i work at a print/shipping store called postnet, we own a Canon IP 8100 and has worked well for us for almost 4 years. A couple weeks ago we needed to change our maintenance cartridge. So we obviously order one and as soon as it gets here we needed to put it in cause we had beeen backed up for print jobs. Now For some odd reason and i have no idea why its doing this but when we put the new one in there the printer started dumping(literally) all the ink into the cartridge. We have replaced almost every single ink some of them twice. Each time we turn on the printer it does the same thing. It keeps dumping our inks for no reason. If someone could please give some insight as to why its doing this and if/how we can resolve this major set back of an issue please help. This is costing us thousands of dollars and spending thousands more isn't worth getting a technician out here. If this is needed then so be it. Thanx in advance.

Edit Before the replacement we were also getting a print head error but we were able to bypass and continue printing per usual. I dont know if that correlates with the dumping of this ink or not.

Wow, That sounds like an expensive problem.

I would most certainly get a tech in right away!

It's literally dumping all the ink from the brand new cartridges into the tank? I'd be very interested in hearing what the issue was and how you fixed it.

    Good luck!

No the issue hasn't been fixed, and still haven't figured out what the issue is exactly. We found a really good deal on ebay for the 8000 model and bought it. All we had to do was order inks for it, which still hasn't come in. We ordered the inks 2 weeks ago and still have not received them. We emailed the sender with no reply. We just keep getting plagued! This ebay seller has sent my anger through the roof! We still have the 8100 but we dont want to get rid of it just yet, we really want to see if we can fix it, and have two running printers. The 8000 model is pretty much the same but from what i hear it doesnt have the print feature like the 8100 where if you look at a print on an angle you will see weird dis-colorization, the 8100 addressed the issue, im hoping when we finally get to printing on the 8000 we dont see the dis-colorization.

Having 2 machines is definitely great, especially in tight deadline situation. Which in my experience is every job. ;)
I would try contacting a local supplier for the inks. I wouldn't trust ebay for something so critical.
If you don't want to spend the money to get a certified tech to look at it try contacting your suppliers.
Someone always knows someone who can help. I can't tell you how many times I was in a tough situation and one of my suppliers knew someone who could help.
