I am looking for a heavy stock 300+gsm color printer. I stumbled across the cp2020, however i see its difficult to lease/service in north america. I have seen several people state that intec is just europes version of oki, and they are essentially the same machine, however all oki specs i see state they can't handle over 300gsm stock.

Any clarification? Anyone know of a printer readily available in north america that can print heavy stock/ multi media? I am just a small business and probably wouldnt push more than 5000 clicks a year. Really need heavy stock and quality though. Thanks in advance!

    Intec Digital Printers

Intec digital printers would work well for you. They print up to 600 gsm and are a very economical short run solution. You can get more information by emailing salesusa@intecprinters.com

    duplex

    Hello
    thinking of buying the cp2020
    I have a few questions:
    1. How is the duplex printing?
If no duplex, how does a two run front and back compare to each other? is the front alignment equal to the back?
    2. Can we use oki toner?
    3. How is the drum life?
    4. What is the comparable to oki model?
    5. After a test run we noticed a slight color change. We have a solid patch from top of the page to the bottom but the color shade is lighter on the bottom than on the top.

    Please let me know at "h u b o n o @ g m a i l . c o m"

    Thank you

Hi guys. First of all - you don't have to write me to my personal, off forum, email for a secretive sales pitch and no, I am not lazy to type up several lines so everyone would benefit and hopefully find their answers form this tread :) I am an Certified OKI Service Engineer so please - ask away.
I should say that Intec is more like Xante rather than OKI, the idea behind these printers (I will simplify without getting in to too much of a technical details) - besides some differences in internal software, they add a tiny piggy-back circuit board to system board that gives an option to slow down the printer to the point that it will cook the toner on heavy stocks. That's about it. There could be a better RIP but as far as print engine - they are the same as OKI because they made by OKI.
Toner powder is the same but RFID chips are different so entire toner cartridge is not interchangeable.
Drum life will be the same as OKI with about the same issues plus while printing on something near plywood thick you will cut lines from paper edges way sooner than projected yield. I would suggest that if buying printer from secretive "lets take it off forum" people or anyone else for that matter, make sure that you have a written promise that you will get a X amount of clicks off the drum(S) running max allowed GSM because there is a chance that you will get less than half and learn that supplies are not covered by warranty or disclaimer of that warranty is so tricked out that you will need a $1,000,000 attorney to prove anything.
As far as Mr. hubono questions:
1- Duplex printing is just fine, you can duplex 12x18 thin cover weight, below 200 gsm I think. There is a simple adjustment to make front and back centered and if rollers are clean and Reg. Clutch operates properly you should register +/- 1mm or less.
2- Technically You can use a OKI powder but not whole cartridges because of RFID chips.
3- I had given some thoughts about it above.
4- It is most likely OKI CX3641 but once again OKI can only go up to 330 gsm, as this is what this engine was designed and made for, I don't think that when this engine was built, engineers projected that some companies will put it on "Steroids" and have it run 600gsm stock. You can take a family sedan tweak it to remove electronic speed limit, etc and take it to a race track - will it go faster than factory specs - most likely, but for how long :)
5- You will find some flows in Igen4 for example and anything in between, some digital machines don't do screens of certain color - nobody is perfect, it is more about if machine is suitable for majority of the jobs you have or, not. Yes if you run large solid trough the entire page length it could give you this problem. There is no carrier in the Developer unit - toner goes directly on to magnetic roller and then on to drum. Of you have a large large solids, you better off with machines that use carrirer (Developer) - a little more maintenance but you are likely to get quality that you need.
Also I've read an article that this printers will give you best performance being in climate control environment with certain humidity level - I don't remember detail but will try to find it and add it up.
I am a friend with company called New York Business Systems, they had exhibited Intec printers at "On Demand" show this summer. They here in NY USA and I am sure can help you to support these printers.
If you have any more questions, please ask here on forum.

I'm a small business owner based in the UK and purchased the Intec CP2020 in 2009. Previously I had used OKI machines. The user interface is very similar and it does feel very OKI, however the performance is much better and different. I run a greetings card company and use the machine to print all our sample stock prior to large print runs. It is by far the cheapest way of doing dummy runs. I have not had any problems, aside from a few minor faults, and would definitely recommend. The support in the UK is good, but to be honest, I use the web as a resource. Best of luck with it!

Very informative, thank you for all the info.
I just called the local agent, he carries the xante along with intec.
The production manager of my company is pushing me towards xante since it takes close to 550gsm.
When speaking to the agent, he mentioned that he carries both but the support for xante comes from europe and the support from intec comes from Duabi.
The latter is better since my country Oman is close to Dubai.
Now i think im more confused. Intec or xante, I guess OKI is out of the race.
    Currently our problems are
    duplex alignment, easy fix
    color patches, hardware shortfall
350gsm and above stock, intech or xante both will allow me thicker stock

    Please let me know.

    Cheers
    Hussain

Hi there, you can interchange the toner cartridges between OKI 9600/9650/9800/9850/9655 - Xante ilumnia and intec cp2020 and Xerox Phaser 7400 - you just need to replace the RFID chip on the toner cartridge. The drums can be interchanged without any changes required.
We can supply the toner RFID chips. Note chips are region specific for OKI printers so if you are in Europe you will need an EU chip - US - you will need a N america region chip.

You can use OKI Es3640 or CX3641 Toners but they need chips dedicated to Intec. As far as Drums, you can use drums out of the same model after you do 2 things:
#1 There are black tablets on the back of the printer (from inside) they do nothing but prevent wrong drums to be installed, remove them - it is one screw, mark them corresponding to the spot you take them out of in case you decide to put them back in for whatever reason. Also you need to keep in mind that removing them will allow you to mix the drums, i.e. put yellow instead of K so pay extra attention when taking the drums out and putting them back in.
#2, there are 4 keys on the drum where toner cartridge lands at. Take a pliers and configure them to the pattern on the toner cartridge. I would not recommend removing them as that may cause wrong toner color being installed and fed in. In #1, if you confuse drum color spot - it is harmless, your colors will come out bizarre but once fixed, that is a harmless error. If you misplace magenta toner on to yellow drum, it will pose a big problem so consider yourself advised and do not comeback to me if drum is spoiled :)
What also can be done (I am not sure all printers will allow this trick) If you need to print Cyan or Magenta only, you can throw it in place of black drum/toner and send a job as Black&White. Machine will kick all 3 drums up and print with the one installed in place of K...
    Good luck.
    Roman.

ATTENTION - ATTENTION DONT BUY INTEC IF YOU WANT MAKE PROFIT
has all those who would buy a INTEC, you must know the costs set forth in their prospectus is false the real cost of this machine greatly exceeds those vehicle. To make the purchase of this machine and the payback you will need prints only the envelopes otherwise if you think you can beat the COMPETITION in your Neighbor this is impossible is a good machine to make envelopes only the operation cost is too high to make the daily production and when you realize it is too late you must observe the credit lease contract. To try to help you INTEC PRINTING SOLUTION offers a reduction of supplies of 30 %, and even with this reduction you will be unable to arrive with an acceptable price and you will not be competitive. Believe me i am stuck with a lease for a machine that does not pay anything here is the reality of a machine of ****. DON’T BUY THIS MACHINE IF YOU WANT MAKE PROFIT

Thanks for the great info! I switched to oki 3641 toner and rechipped them for the Intec 2020. Works great and super easy to do. Question: Can I use the oki 3641 fuser in my Intec 2020? Will I need to rechip the fusers too?

Most likely yes.. i'd out that they changed the design of it. I mean, in worth case scenario, if it will not fit, yoi can sell it on ebay as "open box", yes, probably loose some money but will know if you can save some $ and may share it with forum.. I can, probably, get my hands on bad (worn but alive) oki fuser and perhaps ups it to you, or may be here some Canadian guys why could send you their used fuser from OKi 9800/3640/3641, it will be less expencive and no customs issues.

I have a descent number of OKi toners branded by SHARP.. Sharp sold OKI 3640 as some SHARP AR-360, i think - dont matter.. I have some OEM cartridges labeled as ShArp.. Would you be interested in some? i can, most likely, get chips for your printer as well.

    Intec xp 2020 printer Dead!!!!!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that you CANNOT put Oki 3641 drums in an Intec xp2020 printer. I did, and now my tech from Intec says my whole printer is toast! The tech explained that the 2020 is a 220 V system and the Oki 3641 is 125V. He said the Intec 2020 is NOT an Oki 3641 inside, but rather an Oki 3650.:( Is there an Oki/Intec tech out there that can confirm that my 2020 is beyond repair?

Dear friend, your tech is lieing to you like there is no tomorrow. It will be true only to use 120V fuser in 220V machine and wise versa. I have, personally used any drum from xerox phaser 7400, oki c9600/c9650/c9800/es3640/cx3641 mixed and match them how ever I wanted/needed without single issue, ever. I mean, it is beyond obvious that installing fuser designated for different voltage is terrible idea but drums/belts - no way, they're all the same and not sencitive to voltage in outlet.

Thanks for the info. Any Idea how I can get my 2020 repaired? The local Intec dealer won't touch it! Shows error "CHECK CYAN DRUM" that won't clear.
