Hi i am running a SM 52 2 colour and the since being installed it is starting the day off running the water around 75-77% and later in the day we could be around 85-90% on both units. It also seems difficult to get a punchy colour out of the press as well no doubt due to the high water levels?

Im guessing rip out the whole ink and water trains and reset? If it was the old 4 colour GTOZP I would do it in a blink of an eye but there seems there is a few more obstacles in the way of the ink train on the speedmaster.

Any tips on the ease of roller removal and setting order and settings?

    Cheers.

they are actualy easier to set than a gto as all the top train are spring loaded just check your operating manual but one thing big to remember is that on sm52s you screw the adjusters clockwise to bring them on as on gtos there anticlockwise

The manual explains in good detail on the removal and insertion of the rollers and how to set them, only the ink vibrator and plate rollers are adjustable on the actual ink train, the others are spring loaded. The plate rollers are all colour coded, the damper settings are straight forward too.
No guards need to be removed only lifted for access.

Maybe a daft suggestion but have you tried decalcifying your rollers?

Hi Andy, Ive since reset the rollers on both trains and I seem to have got the water back to around 40% now, Also going to do a decalcify. Do you guy's run NCR as im having a few dramas with doubles. It seems ok, but now and then the feeder just picks up a double. Im confident that I don't have the thin stock suckers on which maybe the key? I have bugger all blow on at the back edge and keeping the fingers off the sheet and minimal suck but every now and then it seems as though it pulls the next sheet with the top sheet resulting in a double trip.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

good to hear that resetting the rollers has sorted out your water issues.Ive seen the operator on the 2col 52 put NCR through at 10k/hour as well as numbering it. i know that he uses the suckers with 2 small suction holes on NCR and doesnt seen to have any feeder issues.Apart from that i would say keep the stock well wrapped up untill the minute you want to print on it, i have to print it A2 sometimes. If its been sat for a while get plenty of air fanned into it.Does yor press have a small diagram of what suckers to use etc at the feeder end?

I have seen pictures of the suckers you are talking about and i will check the manual today. the ones we have on at the moment have several holes and one appears to be turned 180 degrees to the other is this normal? as the boss showed me that when you turn it around it sticks and wont slide freely.
