i have seen different ways of setting the z or bridge roller. some put damps on and the forms then set it and some just set it to the white form with nothing on. can someone please tell me the proper way of setting it? oh and this cd 102 has no Vario system on it.

    thanks

It depends on what vintage press. But regardless of model year you need to set it with ink forms down on the plate. Then it also depends if you want to run fully integrated or not.

the quickest way of doing it is undo top thumb screws off ink it up with yellow set it 3mm ink stripe to plate damper then roll it back off the white roller and if it a simlair setting which it should be but somtimes can be a slightly larger stripe then drop everything to the plate then bring the thumbs screws upto the stops and put about a quarter to a half a turn on then re lock the thumb screws. you should not be far off then thats how I have always set them

    Hi,

Can anybody tell me the adavantages of running with or without the z roller engaged, we just use ours to wash the damps up.

    Cheers,

    Jon

i usually default to running with z roller fully integrated. The advantages are that it will require less sheets to be thrown out every time you start up. It also seems to help with ghosting when running integrated. The only time i don't run integrated is when I'm printing metallic inks or very light coverage. In them cases its better to separate water rollers from ink.

Okay, thanks, I'll give it a go, but, I've always been told that you want as little water in your ink as possible.

I hardly ever run integrated, I find I need to increase the water levels. For ghosting, I let a couple of ink forms oscillate.
