    Hi all

We just had a used Abdick 9995 installed, I need to get a new set of blankets and there are so many sizes available thats its getting confusing, I just took a blanket off of the press to see what it was and the size is 19.5x13 with bars and its a 5 ply with no backer, I also see 4 ply with backer available, also the manual says blanket size is 13.54x19.21 0.075 thickness and also use a 12.99x17.60 0.024 backer? So confused.

Also any recommendations on a good quality blanket?

    thanks
    Alan

I use blue satins 5 ply or (.101) thickness and they are 19.5"X13.5. Don't use a thinner blanket or you won't be able to get a good image the press is set to use a .900 thickness so the .101 gives you plenty of pressure so you can keep it backed off more

I actually spoke to a supplier that I used to get blankets for our old ABdick Century 3000, they had their own Dayco 8700 or a fuji FD800, I got a couple of the 8700's as we have had good luck with their blankets in the past, may give the fujis a shot next time, ended up getting a 19.5x13 5ply.

So I have another question a a few observations on the press, first off when installing a new blanket (QR) how do I properly tension it? Now coming from using an ADbick century 3000 I find the press a lot slower to setup, maybe because im just new to it, I hate the plate clamps so finicky the clamps on the Century are way better, using poly plates how should I go about sqewing the plate? I also dislike having to stop the press to do vertical micro adjustments, whats with that?
Other than a few gripes though of which I will just get used to I really do like the press, with the kompacs and recirculater installed the press just runs and runs without issue

Oh one more question how do you set the headstop? Do you actually ever make adjustments when going between different stock weights?

Go with the two piece quick change blanket that comes with a backer. Much easier to get on and off and works great.
The five ply blankets are a nightmare to change quickly and not worth it.

If you have quick set clamps blanket can be changed with very little time and effort
